Samsun University Turkish Language and Literature Department at the Young Turkologists Workshop
Samsun University Turkish Language and Literature Department undergraduate and graduate students attended the III. Young Turkologists Workshop organized by Ordu University Turcology Club (ODU Turcology). The workshop was opened on Monday, May 16, at 09:30, at the Ceren Özdemir Concert and Conference Hall of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in the Cumhuriyet Campus of Ordu University. Turkology Club President Assoc. Dr. Hüseyin Yıldız, Mayor of Atinordu Aşkın Ceremony and Rector of Ordu University Prof. Dr. Ali Akdogan made the opening speech. In the symposium sessions that started after the speeches, undergraduate and graduate students of our department also presented their papers.
Our graduate students presented their papers: Ahsen Şafak Bülbül “Arınma, Temizlik ve Eğlence Bağlamında Klasik Türk Edebiyatında Hamam Kültürü”; Fatih Erdem “Yer Adlarının Halk Etimolojisi ve Adbilim Bağlamında Değerlendirilmesi”; Hava Hanım Başbozkurt “Evliyâ Çelebi’nin Seyahatnâmesi’nde Kalıplaşmış Dil”; Hülya Sarıalioğlu “Beşik Kültürünün Efsanelere Yansıması”; Sümeyye Sapca “Evliyâ Çelebi’nin Seyahatnâmesi’nden Ankara’ya Bakış”. One of our second year undergraduate students, Emriye Uyanık, participated in the symposium with a paper titled ” Baba-Oğul Çatışmasında Kurtarıcı Özne Olarak ‘Kadın’ın İncelenmesi “. Gamze Cansu Karahan, one of our third-year undergraduate students, participated in the symposium with her paper titled “Lakapların Meslek Folkloru Bağlamında Değerlendirilmesi”.
In the Workshop, which brought Turcology students from different universities of the world and Turkey together and discussed interdisciplinary issues in an interactive and multi-participant environment and was completed in a total of twenty-two sessions, our department head Assoc. Dr. Ahmet Keskin and our New Turkish Language Department faculty members Assoc. Dr. Erkan Hirik and Assoc. Dr. Seçil Hirik also served as session chairman.
The third Young Turkologists Workshop ended with a dinner in Boztepe. We wish that the papers presented at the workshop and which will be published in a book in the coming months will contribute to Turcology studies, and we congratulate our students who participated in the symposium.
