Turkish Language and Literature Master’s Program with Thesis aims to pave the way for the interpretation of texts constructed in various literary genres and forms of Turkish, which has an oral and written tradition for more than a thousand years, from a pluralistic perspective. Examining texts written in the Turkish language at a theoretical level, taking into account their literary, cultural, and historical context; Interpreting tradition, culture, and civilization and connecting them with the future will be possible with students who will be trained at the postgraduate level. In order to ensure the transfer in question and to establish a critical basis, there is a need to examine contemporary literary and language theories and the oral and written, old and new, classical and modern products of the Turkish language. Adopting diversity as a basic principle, the Department of Turkish Language and Literature Thesis Master’s Program acts with the assumption that important insights can be produced within a theoretical framework that includes different approaches and methods.

In this context, the Samsun University Turkish Language and Literature Master’s Program with a Thesis consists of the divisions of Old Turkic Language, Old Turkish Literature, Turkish Folk Literature, New Turkish Language, and New Turkish Literature. The program, which includes courses and faculty members related to different departments, aims to enable students to receive qualified education in every field they want to specialize in and to produce an original scientific study. Also, our courses are designed to take into account the relationships established by literature with linguistics, history, sociology, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, political science, drama, visual arts, music, media, cultural sciences, politics, and other social sciences.

Graduates of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Turkish Language and Literature Teaching, Turkish Language Teaching, Linguistics, Comparative Literature, Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures, Turkish Folklore and Folklore can apply to the Department of Turkish Language and Literature Master’s Program with Thesis. Candidates who have received their undergraduate degree from a department other than these will be considered out of the field and will continue their graduate education after participating in our department’s scientific preparation program.

We welcome researcher candidates who want to specialize in the field of Turkish Language and Literature, receive an interdisciplinary and comparative Turkish Language and Literature education, and produce original academic studies in this field.
